Lacock Abbey and Village

So we joined the National Trust. NT is a charitable organization that has come into ownership of many historic properties, keeps them up and open to the public. Expect to see a lot of these places from here on out!

Saturday we took our friend Jordan and went to Lacock Abbey and village. We packed a picnic and enjoyed a most wonderful spring day with bright sunshine and cool weather.

The abbey was founded in the 13th century by the wife of William Longespee, one of the most powerful barons of the time and Henry II's illegitimate son. The surrounding village looks largely untouched from days of old. I love how the buildings curve and bend, so much character and so many stories.

Harry Potter, as well as others, have been filmed in part here.

We saw these great cars in the village.

Inside a barn.

We got some ice cream from an ice cream truck.
