A Few Laughs

You know how boys are and everything they call each other has "head" on the end... Well, Hudson decided to be a "soldier-head" quite literally. His brothers thought it was funny so we took a picture.

Mark played with Elliot's hair after his bath the night before and this is what he woke up with.

This is a fun video of Nathanael falling asleep. He was sick one weekend so Mark took the older 2 to church, and I stayed home with Nate. He wanted a bowl of Cheerios for lunch and fell asleep as he was finishing up. I love how he loves to hold hands when he gets tired. It's really sweet. On a practical matter though, I'm glad I had it, he might have fallen off the stool otherwise!

And again...

Went to the ER today for the second time since we arrived in the UK (we haven't even been here 3 months yet!)... I'm pretty sure I'm all done with that place. This time it was with Nathanael. He had his thumb in the wrong place at the wrong time and got it slammed in a door. The whole nail bed came out and the x-ray said the tip of his thumb is broken. You can't tell from the angle of the photos, but from the side, the tip of his thumb is an "S". We're going to have to take him in to a different hospital to a plastic surgeon tomorrow for them to remove the complete nail, clean it up, put it back in and sew his finger up. If you're squeamish, scroll no further!

Dyrham Park

We went back to Dyrham Park with the Crisps on Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours. The flowers were beautiful, and the kids had a great time playing. We saw the deer this time which was fantastic. Claire says they're often bounding across the hills. That would have been awesome to see, but I'm just happy we saw them at all!

Nate wanted to roll down the hill like everyone else, but he had a hard time figuring it out.

Books

Mark went to an old Methodist church a couple of weeks back to a book sale they were having just to see if he could find a hidden treasure or 2 and came back with Charles Dickens 16 volume set from 1930 for only 8 GBP! That's 12 bucks! The cheapest we could find it online was 70 GBP, those Methodist should have done their research!! A super great find. And to say we got Dickens in England too. (We get a little sentimental about books in case you can't tell!)

Lacock Abbey and Village

So we joined the National Trust. NT is a charitable organization that has come into ownership of many historic properties, keeps them up and open to the public. Expect to see a lot of these places from here on out!

Saturday we took our friend Jordan and went to Lacock Abbey and village. We packed a picnic and enjoyed a most wonderful spring day with bright sunshine and cool weather.

The abbey was founded in the 13th century by the wife of William Longespee, one of the most powerful barons of the time and Henry II's illegitimate son. The surrounding village looks largely untouched from days of old. I love how the buildings curve and bend, so much character and so many stories.

Harry Potter, as well as others, have been filmed in part here.

We saw these great cars in the village.

Inside a barn.

We got some ice cream from an ice cream truck.
