Uganda

I sent out a letter so I won't expound on my trip a whole lot other than to describe what's in the pictures.  If you didn't get to read it and want to, email me and I'll send it to you.  Now get ready for a lot of pictures!

Our Asian bus in Africa.

A view of Kampala from our guesthouse.

This was at a pregnancy center.  These young girls live here until a few weeks after their baby is born and then return to their homes.  http://www.wakisaministries.com/  If you have a chance to look at their website, this is a great ministry.

This is Ruth, she lives at Wakisa.  She was about 7 months I think.
She, like a lot of the girls, has a really hard story.  Pray for her!

The Wakisa girls have a garden.
They are using this stick to knock mangos from the trees.

Girls at other maternity homes that we visited.

Melissa Busby (Mercy for Mamas' founder and the one who put our whole trip together) with Billy (he's the one that made it all happen once we got there)

A man selling sugarcane on the side of the road.  I took lots of road side pictures.  There was so much going on!  So many things to photograph!

Bed frame anyone?

Victory Christian Church

School kids playing soccer

This is Cynci Petersen, she has four boys too so we bonded.  ;)
She is with an organization called The Hope Venture.  While Melissa is working on getting her NPO license, donations for kits go though The Hope Venture. They are doing some really great stuff too.  I'm really excited about their goat project.  Check them out here.  http://thehopeventure.org/

Our group with the Cupps at SOS Ministries.

Jolie Dalton, from my church, is staying with the Cupps for the summer.
She and Nate Cupp were showing us their blue tongues.

I love this girl.

During some of the outreach opportunities, some of us would take kids outside to play so the mamas could listen better.

The kids loved to look at the pictures we took of them.

Mamas with their Mama Kits at SOS Ministries

The baby on the left was really sick.  You can pray God's provision for that mother and her child.

The Cupps are with SOS Ministries.  They are from my church, Calvary Bible here in Ft. Worth.  It was so fun that it worked out for us to stay with them and do an event at SOS.

The Cupps graciously hosted our big group!

Monkeys in the jungle right behind the Cupp's house.

The church doors at SOS. (hand carved!)

Coffee beans

Sam works with SOS.  This man loves Jesus and his people.

Beans drying.

Jenn Cupp with a women in the village that attends their church.

 Driving is a LITTLE crazy.

I didn't actually ride the boda, but I got a picture!

Uganda's national soccer stadium, it was a big game day when we drove past.

Tea fields on the way to Jinja.

The Nile River

Fishing on the Nile

We went on a Nile River tour.

Saw lots of these little guys.

We all collected lots of fun things women can't get in Uganda.
This is us filling goodie bags for one of our missionary encouragement dinners.

Yes, that is a bed frame on the back of a boda.

This is Harriet.  She is the cook (and a great one at that!!) at the guest house we stayed at in Kampala.  We took 500 kits to her village.  It was quite the big turn out.

Lots of dignitaries and protocol.

We even made the news!

This is Agnes.  She is a nurse at a big hospital in Kampala.  She traveled with us and spoke at the events we did.  She was AMAZING.  Couldn't have done it without her!

This is Ekisa.  It's a home for special needs children.  They are doing a phenomenal work for the kingdom.  I was so blessed by my time there. To see all they are doing please check out their website.  http://www.ekisa.org/

School time

Pictures of the children that have lived there since they opened over 2 years ago.
The 3 white frames are pictures of kids who are with Jesus now.

This little guy was really sick.  He has lots of problems.  You can pray for him!

This was their sensory room.

We did an outreach with Comforter’s Center and Muyenga Baptist church.

This woman was pregnant with twins.  Due immediately!!  She got her kit none too soon!

Fried grasshopper, I know you want one.

Papyrus trees

Can't get enough of these smiling faces!

We went to Acacia Community church on Sunday.
It was beautiful under the eucalyptus trees.

Now these girls can shake it!  The night before we left we went to Ndere Cultural Center.  They did different tribal dances from the different regions of Uganda.

Some of the lovely women on our team.

A hippo skull.

I have to say the avocados are the best in the world.

A great cup of coffee before we came home.

Getting on our plane to come home.
